| The Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild kick off its 2012-2013
coffeehouse series on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Unitarian Fellowship, South
Randolph Ave., Poughkeepsie. The coffeehouse performances start at 7:30 pm with an
open mic format followed by the featured performer, Jane March.
Jane March is a singer-songwriter who hails from Poughkeepsie. She has gained acclaim for her original songs and has been one of several local area artists participating in “Summer Songs”, a week long festival of songwriters engaged in classes, seminars and
creative projects where the end product is a new song. Jane features a strong voice and accompanies herself on guitar. Many of her songs are topical and cover many of the contemporary issues of the day. Admission to the coffeehouse is $6, general admission and $5 for Folk Guild members and seniors. After high school, Cora moved to Nashville where she crossed paths with such notable songwriters as Bobby Boyd (“Bless the Broken Road”) and Michael Peterson (“Drink, Swear, Steal & Lie”). Her performances have been used and aired nationally by NBC and Ford, and she has performed in Mexico, Ghana, and throughout the USA. She now lives in NYC. | ||
