Wild Hive Bakery & Caf'e
Salt Point Tpke
Clinton Corners, NY   See Map
This is a good place to hear music .A great rustic atmosphere. So come on down and enjoy..I am predicting a new "folk revival" due to the upcoming movie that the Cohen Brothers are working on. As you may know they produced Oh Brother Where Art Thou and brought a lot of attention to Bluegrass music. This new movie is inspired by a book based on "the mayor of McDougal street" Dave Van Ronk . He was the renowned folk blues icon that helped spawn folk artists including Bob Dylan in Greenwich Village in the early 60's. Well, I'm getting a head start on all this and bringing back some tunes that have been sleeping in my guitar for a while. I'll be waking these up Saturday night May 19th 6:30 PM at the Wild Hive Caf'e ,Clinton Corners , NY .Helping me out will be my old pal John "JP" Potter on guitar and vocals. We will be playing a great mix of Americana, blues, folk, pop & original tunes. Maybe some special guests too. See you there-Bob

Driftwood, South County

Common Ground Coffeehouse
25 Old Jackson Avenue
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
Incorporating acoustic instruments and elements of Old Time, blues, jazz and modern music, these shanty rockers from Binghamton, NY have put together a traditional/original show that’s nothing short of world class music. Driftwood’s virtuosity is matched by their versatility and they are able to play sweet and sultry ballads with as much drive and passion as an up-tempo romp. That's why Driftwood has been in high demand by Upstate New York audiences since their 2006 formation. Born on the banks of the Hudson River and out of the ashes of the roots rock group Whiskey Logic, SOUTH COUNTY blends together rockabilly, country and blues in their own unique brand of super-charged Americana. Centered around a homemade washtub bass and a drum kit consisting in part of a wooden crate and tin cans, SOUTH COUNTY modernizes old time music for the new millennia.

Jake Walker, “The Ambassador of New York Blues”, has earned an international reputation as “one of the very finest Blues guitar players and singers anywhere” (Danny Bryant, Rounder Records). He has entranced audiences around the world with a style of guitar playing and singing that is at once “deeply soulful and grooving” (Blues Blast), and extraordinarily original, setting himself apart from a sea of copycats and headbangers masquerading as Bluesmen. Jake Walker's many international tours as frontman have taken him to Holland, Belgium, England, France, and especially Italy, where he has headlined numerous festivals, and filled historic halls and squares with delighted fans. Jake's debut C.D., Confidence Man was produced and mixed by multi-platinum selling produced Elliot Mazer (Neil Young, Janis Joplin, The Band, Jerry Garcia, Santana, The Who), and features famed Blues musicians such as Mark Naftalin (Paul Butterfield, Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, Van Morrison),

"You Never Know..." is, well, darn it all, it's unpredictable.

On any given Friday night, the audience might take part in Play Dough Theatre, or judge a grudge match between two improv directors, or take to the stage in one of the many audience participation games the company offers, or sing along in a rousing improvised chorus, or....hey, you never know.

But let's be clear: Mopco is not affiliated with any state Lottery games.

"Somewhere between a smoke-filled bar in Memphis and a hoppin' Blues joint in N'Orleans lies the sound of Michael Bram & The Alternators". Their self-titled CD has been receiving critical acclaim, played on blues radio programs worldwide. Michael "Leroy" Bram is an accomplished harmonica player and singer. Paired with the talents of Chris Vitarello on guitar, Brendan O'Grady on bass and Gary Schwartz on drums, the band is smokin' hot.

For three years, Mike was the drummer and musical director for 2010 Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Mraz, touring the world, making numerous TV appearances and performing at countless festivals. He's recorded with Willie Nelson, toured/recorded with Blues Music Award nominees Dave Gross and Gina Sicilia, as well as with blues harp ace Dennis Gruenling.

In other words, this dude can swing. And man oh man will you dance!
