 Steve Katz studied guitar with Dave Van Ronk and the Reverend Gary Davis. There were many other young musicians around Greenwich Village during this time who were as obsessed with American roots music as Steve. Many would look for a common ground in which to play music together and they found the common ground in "jug band" music. Along with John Sebastian, Maria Muldaur, Stefan Grossman and David Grisman, Katz formed the Even Dozen Jug Band and recorded an album for Elektra in 1964. In 1965, Steve joined Danny Kalb in the Blues Project. They recorded three albums while together in their first incarnation. Steve then became a founding member of Blood, Sweat & Tears, which won three Grammys and sold millions of records worldwide. After BS&T, Steve went on to produce two Lou Reed albums, both of which went into Billboard's Top Ten. His last official band membership was with American Flyer in the mid-seventies.

 An original member of Slide Hampton's "World of Trombones", Clifton has worked with a "who's who" of diverse musical giants: from Frank Foster, McCoy Tyner, Clifford Jordan, Stevie Wonder, Dizzy Gillespie, Merv Griffin and The Mighty Sparrow to Lester Bowie, Paul Simon, Muhal Richard Abrams, WyClef Jean, and Dionne Warwick among others.
Since 1983 Clifton has been a member of Sonny Rollin’s group, touring and performing with him worldwide and appearing on ten Sonny's recordings.

 On Sunday, Oct. 23rd, from noon to 3:00 pm trumpet player, composer & bandleader Rebecca Coupe Franks will be blowing her horn to jazz standards as well as singing some of her own compositions at the High Falls Cafe's "Jazz At The Falls" Sunday brunch. Rounding out Rebecca’s all-star quartet will be Francesca Tanksley on piano, Lew Scott on bass and Tani Tabbal on drums.
Originally from The San Francisco Bay area, Rebecca was mentored by the great tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson. She eventually came to NY to earn her BFA in Jazz studies at the New School. Over the past twenty years, she’s worked with Jazz legends such as Herb Ellis, Lou Donaldson, Virginia Mayhew, & Kenny Barron.
The Café offers their breakfast & lunch menus, & service from the café’s full bar. There's no cover charge, however we do pass the hat for a suggested $5 donation.

 A Coast Guard licensed Master, an actor, a singer and a songwriter, Rick truly brings songs to life.
He has appeared at coffeehouses, folk festivals, house concerts and museums across the USA. He has performed in low waterfront dives and institutions of higher learning from St. Thomas to Toronto, California to New York and everywhere in between. Rick has several albums to his credit. His all original CD called, "Spending My Days" includes the song, "The River That Flows Both Ways", which has been recorded by Pete Seeger, Rich Bala, and Betty & the Baby Boomers, while another tune,"Bar Song" was recorded by an old friend, Ray Chesna. His CD, "The Irish in Me", is a collection of his favorite 'songs from the old sod'. His latest recording, Dockside", is comprised of maritime music both traditional and contemporary, including a good number of his own compositions.
