Catie Curtis has been a fan favorite on the acoustic music scene for a number of years now. Her well-deserved reputation as one of our very best singer/songwriters has followed her through nine critically-acclaimed recordings. With her tenth and newest project, Hello Stranger, released in August 2009, she gifts her loyal fan base and entices new listeners with a recording that captures some of the magic of her live performances. With the help of her Nashville-based record label, Compass Records, she selected a few of Nashville’s best musicians to make an album featuring fiddle, mandolin and banjo as well as acoustic guitar. Opening the evening will be Susan Kane, a singer songwriter based in northern Westchester, NY. Sam Lardner is one of the Towne Crier's "home grown stories." Orlando Marin, a contemporary of such greats as Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez, is the only orchestra leader from New York’s golden era of mambo who still performs regularly.
Orlando formed his first band, Eddie Palmieri and his Orchestra and, since then, has played with several different bands and has performed in the famous Palladium Ballroom. In 1997, Latin music historiographer Max Salazar presented Orlando a plaque in recognition of nearly five decades of uninterrupted contribution to Latin music. In January 2003, Orlando was invited by Latin Jazz station, WPFW, by the Arlington County (Virginia) Cultural Arts Division, and by the Latin American Folk Institute to do a live concert in Washington at The Spectrum Theater and in 2006, Congressman Jose E. Serrano honored Orlando as “The Last Mambo King,” for his continuing to provide Latin American music and his willingness to devote time to helping the less fortunate. Admission $10 | ||

Randolph Ave., Poughkeepsie. The coffeehouse performances start at 7:30 pm with an
open mic format followed by the featured performer, Jane March.
Jane March is a singer-songwriter who hails from Poughkeepsie. She has gained acclaim for her original songs and has been one of several local area artists participating in “Summer Songs”, a week long festival of songwriters engaged in classes, seminars and
creative projects where the end product is a new song. Jane features a strong voice and accompanies herself on guitar. Many of her songs are topical and cover many of the contemporary issues of the day. Admission to the coffeehouse is $6, general admission and $5 for Folk Guild members and seniors. Dave has worked with many musical legends including Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, Sean Lennon, The Drifters and Tommy James. Tonight, we're pleased to welcome back Dave and his special guest, JT Lauritsen, a Blues artist from Norway whose band, JT Lauritsen and the Buckshot Hunters, perform around the globe. Last year, JT and Dave performed at the Ground Zero Blues Club in Memphis. The Blues harp and accordion (his "squeezebox") are JT's signature sound. Add that to the virtuoso guitar playing of Dave Fields and you're in for one sweet night of Blues. Last time out, these guys drove the audience wild.
