Arlene McCann

Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Arlene McCann is a Philadelphia based singer/songwriter who’s lyrics bleed through each strum of her guitar. In 2003 she got her feet wet with the release of her debut album asidefromyou. Since then, the lyrics and tunes have been writing themselves through her emotional wit, and catchy, but edgy melodies. She was voted Forte’s (young professionals of the Kimmel Center, Philadelphia) ‘Chosen’ local musician, and played a special set for the honor of the award in March of 2010.

Arlene tries to make the audience feel at home with her jokes and stories in between songs, as well as the ability of the audience to relate to her writhingly emotional lyricism. With her sweet voice and her rough chords she will draw you in to her world of poetry, love, pain, and you will not be sorry you came.

Tin Pan Band
Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Tin Pan connotes a world of jazz, blues and American popular song. The band has created a rabid following by playing music that resonates powerfully because its intention is pure - to make people dance, smile and conjure with the spirit of music itself. On their new album, Hound's Tooth, the band has perfected their sonic vision - effortless, wondrous and festive, feeling much like, as the band describes themselves, Ray Charles and Tom Waits at a Bourbon Street Parade. With Jesse Selengut on trumpet, lead vocals and compositions, Clifton Hyde on guitar and hollerin', Stefan Zeniuk on reeds and boy soprano vocals, and Peter "Baby Hands" Maness on bass and some singin', Tin Pan evokes everything from Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong to Irving Berlin and Hoagy Carmichael. The Tin Pan Band was founded in 2006 by Selengut, a long time New York based musician, and the curator of the Williamsburg Jazz Festival.

Kirtan is the practice of devotional singing to the Divine through the use of Sanskrit mantras. A form of ‘bhakti’ yoga (the yoga of devotion), this powerful, transformational spiritual practice is considered an easy path to liberation. Kirtan opens the heart, purifies the entire being and the surrounding atmosphere and stills the mind.

If you have never been to one, rest assured it is a solemn, holy experience that is also a ton of fun! If you like to sing, clap, bang on a percussion instrument, or are simply open to new ways to pay homage to your highest Self, your Being, the Divine Presence, God, Vishnu, or whatever signpost to the Ineffable you like to use, then we encourage you to come and give it a try.

Held every 3rd Thursday of the month!

Funny, challenging, touching and affirming, this special review combines great heart with some of the greatest music ever written for the stage. Singer-Songwriter
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
The Bereznak Brothers are a dynamic, genre-bridging group: twin brother singer-songwriter-guitarists Michael & David Bereznak, who have literally been living for music since they were six. Seamlessly fusing together elements of '80s & '90s rock, heartland rock and current pop/rock, they use their signature brand of vocal harmonies, tasteful guitar, and pop song writing sensibility to create a musical tour de force with timeless songs that gracefully touch upon the issues of growing up in a small town, family strength, friendship, love, and loneliness. :|: After twelve years with the award winning comedy trio "Modern Man," Rob Carlson returns to the Towne Crier with a new band and an evening of great new songs & old favorites. We've known for years that Rob is not only a very funny man, but a superb singer and songwriter. "This is the band I always wanted to do," he says, "with a lot of comedy but also a chance to present my songwriter side with a terrific new band."

Lara Hope & The Champtones
Rock (classic)
Keegan Ales
20 St. James St.
Kingston, NY   See Map
The Champtones emerged from guitar player Jeff Kadlic’s vision and love for the authentic early Rock-N-Roll born out of the recordings from the heyday era of Sun Records and the legendary echo of Scotty Moore’s guitar. After teaming up with bassist Josef Pelletier on an earlier project, Jeff knew that he had found the anchor for one bad-ass, rocking rhythm section. Shortly after, front woman and songstress Lara Hope came into the fold, giving The Champtones they key ingredient to their winning formula. Drummer Johnny Watson was the next piece of this intricate puzzle to fall into to place and, like that, Lara Hope & The Champtones were born!

"5 guys, 10 sneakers, 3 different deodorants, 22 songs, 25 beers, 1 album, 4 cars and 1 Vespa, 2 bad hairlines, 50 fingers and a rock and roll teenage dream!"... it's Phineas and the Lonely Leaves. 5 guys who've been together since High School. 5 guys with a good sense of humor, and a great sense of themselves.

This Indie Rock band from Peekskill has a new CD "The Kids We Used To Be". With songs like Bros of Summer, Roman Candles and Come Back to Peekskill, they take us through their lives... through growing up, growing older and looking back. Their lyrics are emotional and beautiful. This is one journey you'll want to take.

The band is led by Timothy "Phineas" Feeney on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, with Tim C on bass, Larry Ohlmann on drums, Mickey Spins on electric guitar/vocals and Paulie "Slats" Slater on keys/vocals. We're excited to welcome this band to our 12 Grapes stage. Come listen with us.
