![]() Friday 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm | Hope Machine Folk/Traditional, Acoustic | BeanRunner Cafe 201 S. Division Street @ Esther Peekskill, NY See Map |
![]() Hope Machine-the band-was born at a 2003 Woody Guthrie hootenanny hosted by Woody's granddaughter Anna Canoni. It's core members are Fred Gillen Jr., Steve Kirkman, and Eric Puente. They rarely do a show without a special guest or two sitting in and their performances are true celebrations of community, spontaneity, and freedom. Their debut CD March, released in the Winter of 2006/2007, was recorded live-in-the-studio and received folk airplay all over the East Coast. The follow-up CD, Big Green Hope Machine, features some of Gillen and Kirkman's finest songs and great special guests. The CD has gotten great reviews and airplay all over the world. Hope Machine is always evolving, but the message remains one of hope, peace, and freedom. While they sing many of their own songs, they also remain an "official program" of the Woody Guthrie Foundation, and carry Woody's message wherever they go. Admission $5 | ||
