Nicole’s vocal style has been compared to the likes of Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughn and others. She has performed at Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Ctr with Aaron Neville, Bradford Marsalis, Mariah Carey, Coolio, Heather Headley, Yolanda Adams and Stevie Wonder. She toured Japan performing Spirituals, Hymns and Gospel music @ the Blue Note; the Czech Republic premiering an orchestral piece by Wynton Marsalis; and Spain as an Ambassador of Peace.
TYRHA M. LINDSEY is a velvety, sultry contralto with a passion for keeping jazz alive. TYRHA has opened for Roy Haines, Pieces of A Dream, and Kirk Whalum, and has recorded and toured with R&B/Pop group "emanon", former Temptation, Ollie Woodson, Rom and Domino. I have always felt a connection to the folk scene and have created my songs to blend in with this genre of music.

 The Star Island All-Stars began as an informal pickup band composed of a group of friends on retreat at beautiful Star Island, located off the coast of New Hampshire. The band includes singer-songwriters Adrian Sicam and Kemp Harris, accompanied by guitarist Carl Sturken, and members of the First Unitarian Rock & Soul Revue. Kemp Harris combines American roots, gospel, soul, and African folk. His live shows vary from solo performances to full-band shows. His new CD, “Edenton,” features The Holmes Brothers on backing vocals and was released in March 2007. Adrian Sicam, whose diverse influences range from the Beatles to Mel Torme and Al Jarreau, composes original song in jazz and rock. He released his highly acclaimed CD “Hey Stranger” in 2001. Carl Sturken is half of the Grammy Award winning writing/producing team of Sturken & Evans.

Touted internationally as "a dynamic Woman in Jazz", Clarke has performed with Defunkt, Joe Henderson, and Yusef Lateef; recorded with Queen Latifah, Nona Hendryx, and others; and is included in the Who's Who In the Performing Arts, Bass Player Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, and several books on Women in Jazz.
Saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin, a high-powered performer, has played with Clark Terry, Rashid Ali, Joanne Brackeen, Vanessa Rubin, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Kool and the Gang, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, and others.
Diana has performed with Yo Yo Ma, Anthony Davis, the Long Island Philharmonic and Brooklyn Philharmonic orchestras, among others.
Luciana is on Radam Schwartz's CD, "Songs for the Soul", Primordial Jazz Funket's album "We are Here", and is drummer for Stratospheerius, a string fusion jazz group.

Tony Jefferson attended the Berklee College of Music on scholarship in 1984. He placed third in the Thelonious Monk International Drum Competition.. Tony has performed and recorded with many jazz artists including: Kenny Drew, Jr., Frank Wess, Eddie Harris, Don Friedman, Cyrus Chestnut, Mark Whitfield, Jerry Bergonzi, Joey Calderazzo, Jack Wilkins, Freddie Cole, Lonnie Smith, Lou Donaldson and others. He has appeared at jazz festivals around the world and is an active player on the New York scene. He has been a guest clinician in high school and college workshops and has taught Master classes nationally and abroad. |

It took a few karaoke night encounters before they found out eachother played an instrument. After two failed bands, the two decided to form their own project - Ashes for Trees.

 Come and here 2010 Grammy Award nominee DAN SCHATZ singing traditional folk music as well as his own original compositions. “Basically Bach”, a delightful concert featuring the music of Bach and other kindred spirits will held on March 27th at 4:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Rock Tavern. Pianist Hollis Kellogg and violinist Elfin Vogel will be performing.
Admission is $7.00 with donated proceeds going toward the restoring of the church’s baby grand piano.
The concert will be approximately an hour in length, with no intermission.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation is located at 9 Vance Road, off Route 207, 3 miles from Stewart Airport main gate; or take I-84 to Route 747 to Route 207, make a right and take second left.

 Common Ground is pleased to be presenting this special date in association with River Arts: The Rivertowns Arts Council. The New York Standards Quartet has been working together since 2005, when it started with a weekend engagement at Smalls in New York City. Since that time the group has toured three times in Japan, and completed its first tour in the US in March of 2008. The group is a collaborative venture, featuring Tim Armacost on saxophone, David Berkman on piano, Yosuke Inoue on bass, and Gene Jackson on drums.

 We can't think of a better way to kick off our Anniversary weekend! The DBG features the multi-talented Drew Bordeaux on guitar, vocals and electric fiddle, Amanda Ruzza on bass/vocals, Matt Graff on drums and Alex Nolan on guitar. Drew exudes an energy from the stage that is exhilarating, uplifting and downright contagious. Teamed with this talented group, it's ELECTRIC!
NY music reviewer Kevin Johnston wrote this about Drew: "His guitar work is the real deal. A lot of players have forgotten... what the rock solo is for, but Drew knows, and he uses it to take the music to a new level. And just to make sure you stay interested, he switches to electric violin."
Aside from his incredible musical talents, Drew is still first and foremost a songwriter. The band is currently recording their first full-length album, and we'll hear many of their original tunes tonight.
