New City, NY   See Map
Spend a delightful afternoon listening to one of the hottest Bluegrass bands to come on the scene recently. Mark Miklos & The Raritan Valley Ramblers blend traditional bluegrass with a semi-modern twist which gives you that "high-lonesome" sound. Listeners will simply love Mark's delivery as his tone is strong and is one that sets the audience on their feet each and every time. Mark's voice is one that you won't forget. He a...lso writes most of his own material. Opening the show will be Michael "Zaydie" Scolnick, a folksinger in the mold of Pete Seeger who has opened for Pete many times. Michael has a pleasant voice and is an accomplished guitar player. He runs the weekly song circle at the Beacon Sloop Club. Professional sound engineering will be provided by Gary Hagen of Bearfort Sound Studios. Admission is $20 per person ($15 for Borderline members) and we ask that you bring a cold potluck dessert dish to share with 4 other people. We are an alcohol free venue.

A special Singer/Songwriter Showcase
with Melissa Frabotta, Kristina Koller, and Omar Ramirez
Acoustic
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Sometimes, it's amazing the talent you come across at an Open Mic. Melissa Frabotta first performed at 12 Grapes when she was 15. Her voice, her guitar playing and her songwriting so impressed us, she was immediatley invited back. Melissa has performed at several of our singer/songwriter showcases, including our 500th Performance event last April.

Kristina Koller, a Yorktown High School junior, and Omar Ramirez from Walter Panas High, were also "discovered" at one of our new Kids' Open Mic nights. Kristina plays acoustic guitar and ukelele. Omar has a great voice and his passion comes through in every song. They'll each do alternating sets, twice around.

Join us tonight as we welcome these three very talented songwriters to our stage. We can't wait to see where they go from here.

201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Nine years ago, Kim Clarke, bassist extraordinaire, who has been included in the Who's Who In the Performing Arts, Bass Player Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, and several books on Women in Jazz, was called to sub for Eric Lemon at the Jazz Spot, a new club in Brooklyn. Owner, Lillithe Meyers, surprised to meet Clarke, asked her point blank "Where are all the female musicians?” Having toured many years with Kit McClure and her all women Big Band, Clarke knew plenty and from that chance encounter The Lady Got Chops Women's Month Music and Art Festival was born.

"I produce this festival to feature and mentor women performers and bandleaders, to give 'sidepersons' a chance to be heard and recognized for their valuable contributions to the Arts, and to spread the history of the great women musicians who preceded them."

Celebrating her debut album, Lead Me Home, Jean Rohe is quickly becoming a gem of New York City’s jazz and Brazilian music scene. After winning both the audience favorite and second place award at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006, Jean assembled an unusual sextet, featuring accordion, clarinet, and South American percussion. The resulting project involves the full breadth of Jean’s stylistic attractions, challenging traditional boundaries around musical genres. Her original compositions and fresh arrangements of songs from Latin America explore the intersections of jazz, North American folk music, Brazilian and Afro-Peruvian traditions. Her singing and compositions have now filled venues from the Birdland to Havana’s Teatro Nacional.

Tommy "Blues Buddha" is back. To know The Buddha is to love his unique, infectious havin'-a-good-time style. If you've never seen the Blues Buddha Band, you're missing out on one of the most fun and exciting Blues acts in the Tri-State area.

Blues Buddha's new CD, "I Like It A Lot", continues to receive rave reviews. John Vermilyea of Blues Underground Network writes, "My highest rating, Five Stars. Excellent CD. With Blues Buddha's debut CD, "I Like It A Lot", Tommy Dudley doesn't ask you politely to get up and dance... once you hear his music, it will tear you off your seat and point your feet towards your best dancin' shoes. It is a Jumpin' Boogie Blues good time and one of the best such releases for 2010."
