 Burr Johnson is an innovative guitarist whose powerful technique and artistic diversity have won wide recognition both nationally and internationally. His dazzling repertoire is spiced liberally with flavors of Jazz, Rock and Blues. He has performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic and with legendary artists Ray Charles, B.B.King, Buddy Guy, Spyro Gyra and Rick Derranger. The Burr Johnson Band, who has perfomed at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival two years in a row, is currently touring the United States and Germany. In an review of The Burr Johnson Band's latest CD, "What It Is", Vintage Guitar Magazine called it, "a Jazz freak's delight--especially for a Jazz guitar freak--mostly because of Johnson and his trio's dazzling play." And B.B. King called Burr "A fine, fine player." We look forward to their debut performance at 12 Grapes.

 Chris Barron is many things to many people: the voice of the Spin Doctors, the face of the jamband scene, an MTV superstar, an East Village troubadour, the author of some of the 1990s' most enduring radio hits, a father and a teacher. But, these days, the Spin Doctors singer is most at home when he's simply playing rock and roll. The Spin Doctors' multi-platinum debut, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, became a grassroots success story, spawning ubiquitous hits like Little Miss Can't Be Wrong, Jimmy Olsen's Blues and the chart-topping Two Princes. The group was nominated for a Grammy, scored the cover of Rolling Stone and shared the stage with luminaries like the Rolling Stones. Then, at the height of his career, Barron was diagnosed with an acute form of vocal cord paralysis. Thanks to years of hard work and some good luck, Barron's voice eventually recovered, and he slowly returned to New York's vibrant club circuit.

Chris O'Leary was the lead singer and front man for Levon Helm and The Barnburners.  Led by one of the area's top slide guitarists, The Geoff Hartwell Band opened for Gregg Allman at the Paramount in Peekskill this past November (photo). Geoff has also performed with rock legends such as Sonny Landreth, Tab Benoit and John Hammond and did a tour with guitarist Andy Aledort and drummer Yonrico Scott (from the Derek Trucks Band). In his recently released CD, "Hate to See You Go", Geoff is joined by long-time band members and world-class musicians including slide guitar legend Sonny Landreth.
The Geoff Hartwell Band features Geoff on slide guitar and vocals, Anna Leinbach on fiddle, Alex Nolan on guitar, Mike Wise on bass and JJ Clarke on drums. We're excited to welcome the GHB back to 12 Grapes.

 Join us for 6 hours of non-stop acoustic folk music at the second annual Borderline Picnic, Singing Party & Jam. Bring your instruments, your voices, yourselves, lawn chairs, and a pot luck dish to share with 6 other people. We will provide the soft drinks. This is a FREE event but you have to make reservations so we know how many are coming. If you are a performer looking to participate in the open mike let us know when making your reservation so that we can schedule you accordingly. We will have a sound system with a professional sound engineer (Don Wade). This is an outdoor event but will move indoors if it rains. Craft vendors are welcome. We are an alcohol free venue.  Rich Kelly (pictured here) is a singer, bassist and guitarist who plays solo and as a sideman in many ensembles. He's been showcased on local TV shows such as The Working Musician. Rich is a frequent performer at our Singer/Songwriter Showcases. Rich performs both originals and covers with an infectious style that keeps us, and his fans, coming back for more.
Tara Dougherty is a singer/songwriter who combines soulful vocals with a folk flavor. Tara's been playing on the New York City circuit for several years exciting audiences with her poetic lyrics. Join us on the couch or for a relaxing dinner, and a special evening of original music.

 "Back To The Garden 1969" is comprised of a group of five musicians (two of which were at the original Woodstock festival) who have performed together in various combinations over the years, but joined forces specifically to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Music Festival. This proved to be so much fun for everyone ~especially those who've come out to see them~ that there was no reason to stop! The band covers the wide variety of musical styles and classic sounds associated with Woodstock, including acoustic and electric rock, acid rock, folk music, and soul. Their musical performances are a tribute to the artists who helped make Woodstock the epic event that, to this day, remains unparalleled. So... break out your tie-dye, put on your sandals, and don't forget to wear some flowers in your hair!
