 To call Chip Taylor's life an incredible story is almost an understatement. As a songwriter, Taylor has hit the charts in five decades now. He wrote Wild Thing, one of the primary songs of the rock'n'roll canon since it was a #1 hit for The Troggs in 1966. His song Angel of the Morning has been a hit for Merilee Rush, Juice Newton and most recently Shaggy, whose chart-topping version earned Taylor the status of having the longest span of #1 hits in music history. As No Depression magazine noted, "Maybe somebody else has had cuts by Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson, but it's got to be a pretty elite club." Taylor has also been a spectacularly successful professional gambler, as well as a recording artist and producer of such acts as the young James Taylor (no relation) and pop superstar Neil Diamond. He was an integral part of the bustling New York pop songwriting scene in its 1960s Brill Building heyday, one of the pioneers of the progressive country style.

 The SUNDOWN Band has been performing their brand of Southern Rock since 1976. Every time the band's been reviewed, the response is the same: "You will be hard pressed to find another band that performs with the talent, passion, and intensity that these guys bring to the stage every night." From the beginning, SUNDOWN played all the legendary Westchester clubs like the Fore 'n Aft, Bottom's Up and The Beachmont, as well as NYC clubs like Lone Star Cafe. Many of the band's life-long fans now bring their teenage kids to experience the band's classic style; unique renditions of Southern Rock classics from bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet and more. They don't just cover the songs, they play them with heart. The highlight of their shows are the duel guitar talents of Ronnie Pauls and Steve Mitchell, which leaves audiences in awe. We can't wait.

| Heritage Folk Music and the Saugerties Historic Society are proud to present nationally known folksinger, Joe Hickerson, in concert on August 15 from 3-5pm. The concert will be held at the Kiersted House at 119 Main St in Saugerties and tickets will be sold at the door for $8.
Hickerson wrote the 5th and 6th verses to Where have all the Flowers Gone,” and has been called a “great song leader” by Pete Seeger. He also is an alumnus of Camp Woodland in the Catskills and is very knowledgeable about regional folk music.
As a folklorist, ethnomusicologist and archivist, Hickerson also spent 35 years as the Librarian and Director of the Archive of Folk Song/Culture at the Library of Congress. In addition, he has performed over a thousand times throughout the U.S.A. and in Canada, Finland and the Ukraine. For recordings and reviews, please visit www.joehickerson.com.

Marc is joined tonight by KJ Denhert, a unique artist, singer, guitarist and songwriter who calls her music Urban Folk & Jazz. a duo comprised of Roger Bruno on percussion and vocals and Ellen Schwartz on Guitar and vocals. Ask them what kind of music they play and they will answer, "Good music with a lot of heart."
