| hey're a duo - heavy on the acoustic and heavy on the rock, with a sprinkling of psychedelia for spice. Karen's versatile voice handles everything from 60s rock to her own edgy originals with power and dynamism. She loves to belt it out, but can also sing sweet and soft. Same goes for her guitar playing - lots of rhythm, lots of speed; but she also composes pastoral tunes showing her folk and prog-rock roots. Lead guitarits Joe Pla adds wonderful colors. His style is retro - ranging from mod to psychedelic. Karen and Joe have been playing together for 2 years, and have travelled the East Coast from Massachusetts to Virginia. The hit festivals, house concerts, coffee houses, private parties, film series and church concerts. They're doing pre-production on new tunes, and should have a new 8 song CD out by next summer. |

 With Demetri's Help was founded on June 14th, 2010, in honor of Demetri Demeropoulos. At 18 years of age, Demetri waged a heroic battle against cancer that first attacked his spinal cord, and, later, his brain. For two years Demetri went toe to toe with this terrible disease never allowing the constant physical and mental setbacks to interfere with his positive approach to life. He fought with an amazing spirit that touched all of those who knew him.
With Demetri's Help seeks to carry on Demetri's enduring message: to find the good in every situation, no matter how bad it may seem. With Demetri's Help has two missions: to financially support research into spinal cord and brain cancer, and to assist in the donation of unused medical supplies so that they may be put to good use.
On August 1st, With Demetri's Help will be hosting their 1st fundraiser featuring performers from Demetri's community and circle of close friends.

 Capping off Grape Jam Weekend is an event called "Songwriters in the Round", a format that features three talented artists each taking turns in the spotlight to perform their own original songs.
Steve Chizmadia just won the 2010 Kerrville New Folk Festival for his song, "Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bailout Blues". It was his second time in Kerrville, the last as a 2003 finalist. Steve's song "This Old Town" received honorable mention from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in '05.
Steve is joined tonight by two other musicians, singer/songwriters Laura MacLean and Brooke Campbell. Each will bring their own deeply personal and unique artistry to the evening. Songwriters In the Round provides a cool, interesting and diverse listening-room kind of vibe.

 Gillen's musical influences range from Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie to Queen and Elton John. From James Brown and Stevie Wonder to The Clash and Johnny Cash. Gillen is a folk singer and a rocker, a roots musician and a modernist, as at home playing washboard or acoustic guitar as playing with drum loops and a whisk broom. Whatever the instruments and genre, he's always been attracted to music which is reckless and in-the-moment.
Tonight, Fred is joined by singer/songwriter Rebecca Loebe. On tour in the US and Europe the past few years, Becca has gotten rave reviews for her high-energy performances, weaving together skillful, emotional songwriting, folk storytelling and "whimsical comedy for the ADHD generation." At a very young age, she's already shared the stage with greats such as Mary Chapin Carpenter (at a 6,000 seat ampetheatre in Atlanta), Ellis Paul, Sophie B. For many years Ernie Hawkins has been playing concerts, clubs, blues and folk festivals, workshops, colleges, museums, parties, fist fights and millennium celebrations in the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe and at every stop in the road from A Prairie Home Companion to Antone's to the Madrid Jazz Festival. He has played with blues greats such as Son House, Mance Lipscomb, Fred McDowell, Jim Brewer, Rev. Gary Davis and many others.
Ernest Leroy Hawkins was born in Pittsburgh PA in 1947. In the '50's he had a paper route, a beagle and a Roy Rodgers harmonica (which he still has somewhere).

ESQUELA is a 6-piece Roots-Rock/Indie/Soul band hailing from the Catskills (Delaware County) and NYC. Featuring a powerful mix of pro-players and stand-out regional talent, Esquela shows are fun, dance-intensive parties, with a ton of soul and a honkey-tonk edge.
ESQUELA features industry veteran Keith Christopher (guitar, vocals). Christopher in a founding member of the Georgia Satellites, has performed/recorded with the likes of Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Billy Joe Shaver, Paul Westerberg and Todd Snider, and has written music for Ray Charles (among others). The band also features vocalist-sensation Rebecca Frame whose remarkable vocal prowess consistently earns her comparisons to singers like Susan Tedeschi and Janis Joplin.
ESQUELA's new album, 'The Owl Has Landed,' was produced by Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (Ryan Adams, New Heathens, Bottle Rockets, etc).

| Scott Massarsky is a prolific songwriter, artist and musician who has written songs in many different genres including Pop, Folk, Rock, Country and Children's music. He has been writing songs since he was 14 and has written over 330 songs within the last 5 years. "Everything of what I am is put into the writing and performing of my music, it is genuine and something I do not only because I like to, but because I have to." He just finished a grant funded project where he performed music, poetry, story telling and exhibited his art in Libraries throughout New Jersey and New York. His song writing is often inspired by other forms of media such as books, films and art. "My aspirations are to have my songs heard by many people, to record them and have them recorded by others, to be featured in films and T.V. and to share the gift I was given and am eternally grateful for."
