	Rupert Wates was born in London. He has been a full time songwriter since 1992 when he signed an exclusive deal with Eaton Music Publishing. 	The Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild continues its 2009-2010 coffeehouse series on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Unitarian Fellowship, South Randolph Ave., Poughkeepsie. The coffeehouse performances start at 7:30 pm with an open mic format followed by the featured performer, Melissa Holland. Melissa Holland is a singer/songwriter, flutist, and keyboardist. In each song she tells a story - reflecting personal growth and change and evoking empathy, images and pathos. She does this with confessional, conversational and often humorous lyrics. Her style is a mixture of pop, folk, classical, sometimes even jazz and country; She has been compared style-wise to Carol King and Laura Nyro. 	Through the years, Jeffrey Gaines has built an emotional and trusting bond with his fans, and admits that they have sustained him from the start.
