Diana Jones channels the "flavour of a bygone era" (The Guardian UK). Combining high lonesome singing, traditional strains of mountain and old-time music, and a highly literate lyrical sensibility, Jones has written a collection of songs which Uncut magazine says "sound like they've spent a couple of generations being marinated on an Appalachian mountain porch."

“Better Times Will Come,” the follow up to her critically acclaimed 2006 recording, 'My Remembrance Of You,' has already drawn diverse praise and recognition ranging from raves in the UK press to the New York Times and a connection with Joan Baez, who recently covered "Henry Russell's Last Words" on the Grammy-nominated 'Day After Tomorrow'.

Pawling, NY   See Map
An outstanding and highly original singer, Sloan Wainwright is a compelling performer best known for her rich contralto voice, intensely personal lyrics, and an innovative approach to song. Hard to categorize, her musical style melds the best of pop, folk, jazz, and blues to create a soulful hybrid. Born into a highly acclaimed musical family (youngest sister to Loudon Wainwright, auntie to Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright) Sloan's teenage years were largely influenced by a constant flow of diverse artists, writers and musicians. She learned to play the piano and watched her brother Loudon, 11 years older – and the father of Rufus and Martha – become successful. Writing and performing, throughout the Greenwich Village hipster scene, Sloan developed her own unique style.

"Ms. Wainwright has a powerful, earth mother voice that she pours into unexpectedly sensitive blends of folk, jazz, blues and funk." -Footlights, The New York Times

A four-month engagement at the Mansfield Hotel's M Bar readied her for last year's five-month run at Club Macanudo on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Silver has likewise become a familiar face at The Cutting Room, Chez Suzette, Shelly’s, Cleopatra's Needle, and the Anyway Café. Singer/Songwriter Showcase
with Mike Clifford, Mani Cregan , and, Mishti Roy
Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Mike Clifford has recently returned from a tour in Australia, where he was featured on a radio show there. Mike's performed with a number of world-renowned artists, including Gavin DeGraw and Richie Havens. His songwriting skills are fresh and his eclectic style will leave you wanting more.

When Mani Cregan takes the stage with his acoustic guitar, expect to be moved. His vocals go from soft to soaring. His songwriting is often touching and poignant, sometimes hilarious. Last year, Mani was a runner up in The Peak FM contest to play onstage with Weezer at Madison Square Garden. We like him here better.

Mishti Roy (pictured here) gives her all to her music, and it shows every time she's on stage. Her strong, soulful voice and uninhibited performances are something we've come to look forward to. Whether she's belting out a song, ripping chords on the guitar or even behind the drums, Mishti always creates a wonderful vibe.

ARI HEST, also GUGGENHEIM GROTTO
Singer-Songwriter
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Already signed to a major, ARI HEST opted out of his label deal so that he could have more control over his art. He then embarked on his ambitious "52" project, during which he spent all of last year immersed in an unprecedented effort: to write, record, produce and release one new song per week, for 52 weeks in a row! Now, Hest has self-release his new studio CD, Twelve Mondays, featuring reworked versions of 12 fan-selected songs culled from the past year's extraordinary output. "Twelve Mondays" showcases the diversity of Hest's songwriting ~ from the haunting, minimasterpiece "Broken Voices" to USA Today's Listen Up Music Pick, The Weight, which was praised as a "poignant, acoustic reverie."

Over the past three years, the crisp, brotherly-like harmony and memorable melodies of Mick Lynch & Kevin May ~ Ireland's pop/folk act THE GUGGENHEIM GROTTO ~ have touched US and UK audiences in a way the duo couldn’t have imagined.

I love the Rosendale Cafe; they present world-class musicians and it's one of the few places I can go where I can order most anything they have on their menu!

What this is. Lifted from their site: "The Rosendale Cafe has been bringing notable performances to the area for 16 years. This more humble opportunity for local performances started with a very successful run of the Community Music Night, and the series has run on and off since fall 2007.

"The showcase has been a performance opportunity for both newly-established artists, and those that were outside the musical style of the Cafe's usual weekend bookings."
