Kurt has opened for scores of national touring acts such as the Byrds and Procol Harum. 	With 12 albums under his belt, Chris Smither qualifies as a veteran of the music industry. His elegant lyrics are arranged simply, with mostly just his own masterful finger-picking and foot-tapping to accompany him. His music qualifies as folk, but the blues influences are undeniable. Smither's first album, I'm A Stranger Too!, was released in 1970. After the 1972 release of Don't Drag It On, Smither struggled with alcoholism and didn't release another album until he had fully recovered 12 years later. Since then, he's returned to a regular recording and touring schedule, and had his songs covered by the likes of Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt and Diana Krall. His latest album, Leave The Light On, was released in 2007 on his own record label. Continuing Smither's tradition of incorporating songs by other artists, the new album includes covers of artists including Peter Case, Bob Dylan and Mississippi John Hurt, in addition to his own powerful material. 	John Reddan Band Carrying On The "Night Before Thanksgiving" Tradition A Warwick native, John has been studying the music of the Hudson Valley his whole life, and even though the learning curve is still growing and moving, the man has found his niche. He was astute at an early age and found the object of his desire, The Blues and found the teacher of a lifetime, the incredible Bill Perry, a resident of Chester, the Hudson Valley and the world of the Blues. This night is one that has belonged to the Bill Perry Blues Band for 10+ years, and John and his band are the only ones who can fill those shoes. The baton has been passed, Carry On My Blues-Ward Son, Make Bill proud! Special Guest: Jeremy Baum. Over the years Jeremy Baum has done freelance work for many different artists. There won't be a Blues Jam on Thursday 11/27 (Thanksgiving Day) as The Bungalow will be closed, so you'll have to hang out with your (other) friends and family and enjoy too much food. The jam will return the following week, on 12/4. Having said that, you ought come to hear The Slippery Chickens on Wednesday. You know you love these guys, (you DO KNOW they're the evolution of One Eyed Cat, all you OEC fans) and you haven't heard/seen them in some time, and NEVER at The Bungalow, 'cause it's our debut appearance. Minissale respects the traditions but writes his own songs. He tickles the guitar with assurance but without excess flash or flab, and happily offers the spotlight to his guest musicians, notably Ken Korb on harmonica and Red Molly's Abbie Gardner on dobro. His approach to blues guitar traditions is reverent, but not so careful and precious that it sounds academic, as can sometimes happen with students of blues guitar.
