SONiA & disappear fearBodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
Whether in the bomb shelters "Miklats" in Israel or summer camps in Palestine, Human Rights Events, Colleges, Festivals or Venues around the world SONiA is always striving to disappear fear and spread her message of Peace. In fall 2007 SONiA released a new CD with her band 'disappear fear' to the world (al mundo).
"t a n g o" features 13 songs in Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic and English. The music matches the words in poetry about Love, Peace and Equality; themes familiar to SONiA's writing since the creation of 'disappear fear'.
"t a n g o" has been classified as WORLD and Folk-Pop. Latin and Middle Eastern rhythms and instrumentation along with lush string arrangements and harmonies are featured. SONiA & disappear fear began a coast to coast tour of the USA and Canada with the launch of the CD this fall and will end 2007 in Australia.

Solo for several years SONiA has now begun touring with other musicians and has revived the harmonies that her band 'disappear fear' has always been known for with the addition of Laura Cerulli on vocals, drums and percussion.

SONiA & disappear fear will continue to share their music around the world in 2008 with tours in Australia, the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, Israel, and the Middle East. Their label disappear records donates 18% of every song downloaded to the United Nations World Food Programme to help end poverty around the globe. In keeping with her message of global harmony SONiA has created "Guitars for Peace" which helps bring Acoustic Guitars to children in war torn countries. Two Guitars have already been delivered.

With guitar in hand and stories to tell, Eric Squindo has been entertaining audiences for over a decade. Simple, honest lyrics delivered with a dusty-road tenor voice, his performances are soulful and thought provoking without being artificial or pretentious. Influenced by the likes of Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, his music has been described as warm and whimsical country/folk. Eric has recently relocated to the Hudson Valley area of New York.

Starting with this Jam, the cost of admission will go up to $5, but if you bring a non-perishable food item (canned food, pasta, etc.) that we can donate to the Saugerties Food Pantry to help the hungry, admission is still only $3. The number of people registered with the food pantry has doubled this year, so let's all do what we can to lend a hand....

Tribute to the late guitar maker Thomas Humphrey (1949-2008). Accolades have only grown more reverent for David Starobin - "Soundboard" magazine called him "arguably the most influential American classical guitarist of the twentieth century". Composers Elliott Carter, George Crumb, Poul Ruders, Gunther Schuller and Milton Babbitt have dedicated new works to him, and Starobin has performed these works with The New York Philharmonic, National Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Emerson Quartet, Copenhagen Radio Orchestra and Odense Symphony Orchestra. His CD "Newdance" received a Grammy nomination and won the Association for Independent Music's "Indie Award" for best classical CD. Among his many honors are a Harvard University Fromm Grant, for "his commitment to the music of our time," a Lincoln Center Avery Fisher Grant; and Peabody Conservatory's "Distinguished Alumni Award".

In the past quarter-century, the Mississippi-bred, Nashville-based singer/songwriter has built a deeply personal body of work that's won him a reputation for clear-eyed insight and plainspoken eloquence. In the process, he's evolved from the wide-eyed young troubadour of his early classics Alive On Arrival and Jackrabbit Slim to the mature, bittersweet outlook of his more recent work, which surveys darker territory with hard-won empathy and deeply-ingrained rock 'n' roll soul.

We're expanding The Rhodes' colonies and bringing our brand of Retro-Rock-n-Roll to the Constitution State. So stop by Governor's Tavern for good food and fun times. It's a Traditional Irish Tavern that used to be called Onnel’s Tap Room, but it has been under new ownership since earlier this year [hmm . . .]. Red Molly includes Laurie MacAllister (vocals, guitar, banjo), Abbie Gardner (vocals, Dobro, guitar) and Carolann Solebello (vocals, guitar, bass, mandolin). This is the second of three consecutive Thursday night appearances by Jimmy Eppard and The RetroRockets, who've been called a super-group by Young Brett of WDST. Many others would agree. The band is fronted by Woodstock area legend, Jimmy Eppard, who grew up in Kingston and has played with everyone who's anyone in Ulster County. He's been called the best guitar player in town by in-the-know musicians. Jimmy is ably backed up by Pete Levin on keyboards, Charlie Knicely on bass, and Tall Paul on drums. The Boiceville Inn is located on Route 28 in Boiceville and has a full bar, delicious full menu, and ample dance floor. Come on out and dance all night. "The hippest music scene in the Hudson Valley. A Fox Radio Event !!!
with Dave Siegel, 3 Guys From Gotham
Comedic
Bodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
Dave Siegel knows what it takes to make it in the comedic arena and at just 30 years old, promises to be worth keeping an eye on. With close to 7 hectic, frantic and hilarious years doing what it takes, he is plotting a steady course built on solid stage work and the accelerated maturing of his material. While Dave regularly focuses on relationships, family and religion, he is equally comfortable making political and social commentaries. There is no subject Dave is afraid to touch and enjoys pushing the envelope on issues other comics won't go near. His strength lies in an intelligent straight forward and dry wit that appeals to older crowds but exudes a youthful sarcasm that allows him to deliver poignant jokes while never cracking a smile himself. Dave is a regular at comedy clubs such as Carolines on Broadway and Improv Comedy Clubs around the nation. He has opened for comic giants such as Louie Anderson, Dom Irerra and Richard Lewis among many others. He has appeared on CNN, MSG in Comedy Central's 'Laugh Riots.' You can hear him on a daily basis on both Siruis and XM Radio.

With a couple of successful albums under this belt David will cover some great tunes of those times but will really wow you with his original material.
