First assembled for US government-sponsored tours of China and Tibet, the quartet explores a mixture of old-time, folk and bluegrass numbers, as well as original compositions. Clawhammer banjo player / evocative vocalist Abigail balances her affinity for Chinese culture with a love of traditional American music in her compositions. Banjo legend BÈla Fleck has virtually reinvented his chosen instrument through a remarkable career that has taken him all over the musical map, from New Grass Revival to solo projects to collaborations with greats of the bluegrass, jazz, rock, country, and classical worlds. He has won no less than eight Grammy Awards, and has been nominated for 20 awards in more diverse categories than anyone in Grammy history.

 ROBIN HALPIN's musical qualities include spark, fire, wit and poignance. She can make you cry and she can make you laugh with her tales of a childhood swirled into a modern day potion of sanguine melodies and pulsating rhythms. Halpin transforms her unpredictable adventures into marvelous, heroic, humble musical essays. Her voice is uplifting, firm, optimistic and articulate. Robin grew up listening to Motown and jazz piano. Her earliest musical influences include Oscar Peterson, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Nina Simone, Donny Hathaway and Nancy Wilson. While with Tommy Boy Records in the early '80s, she co-wrote and co-produced three LPs with the Force M.D.'s, a do-wop hip hop group who had a Top Ten R&B hit Robin co-wrote: Tears. She has also arranged horns for James Brown, Africa Bambaataa, and has remixed for Island and Warner Brothers.

Rene Bailey will be back along with the Saints of Swing for two afternoons of great songs and sound. A variety of

 Maria Muldaur's musical roots run as deep and varied as the Greenwich Village she grew up in. In the '60s, she joined John Sebastian & Steve Katz to form the Even Dozen Jug Band, and soon joined the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, appearing on 5 albums with the group. After 2 albums with her husband Geoff, she went solo, releasing the gold record MIDNIGHT AT THE OASIS in 1974. Her 10+ recordings since then are garnished with "tip-of-the-hat" guest appearances by artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Huey Lewis, Sonny Landreth and Mavis Staples, and showcase her abilities in jazz, pop, R&B, folk, gospel and blues. She has even worked in the musical theatre, having accepted roles in touring company versions of Pump Boys & Dinettes and Pirates of Penzance.
