Hailing from Anchorage Alaska, Bearfoot is rising fast on the acoustic music scene. The band features three part vocal harmony, solid rhythm and soloing on mandolin and guitar, twin fiddles, and acoustic bass. Their repertoire ranges from the band's original contemporary acoustic songs to fast-paced instrumentals to arrangements of traditional tunes evoking the high lonesome sounds of Bill Monroe. Bearfoot has toured extensively in the US, Canada and Ireland playing concerts and festivals. In 2001, they won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, joining such other notable winners as The Dixie Chicks and Nickel Creek, to whom they have been compared for their fresh new sound.
