 They’re our only blues band... ‘cause they‘re so atypical
of the genre! OD’s has tried hiring Chicago style bands,
with “She done me wrong” lyrics and crying guitars, and,
although we like that kind of music as well, there’s just
something about the Chickens’ upbeat, stride sound
that makes all the others fall away.
The booming voice and upright slap bass of front man
Jerry Scaringe, and the slightly nutty, sliding tempo guitar
of Mike Olivieri are reasons the Chickens’ jump style is so
appealing. Add the rambunctious, bang-bang
drumwork of Richie Narigian, and you have the hippest,
happiest blues music this side of a New Orleans wedding!

Mojo Myles is a 12-year old multi-instrumentalist who plays Guitar, Piano and Sings well beyond his years. He's been fronting his own band since the age of 9 yrs old. He’s been referred to as "Not your Average Prodigy" playing a unique blend of Rockin' Rhythm & Soul. His performances include songs from Ray Charles, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Dr John, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash and many more. He recently played guitar in a Broadway Production; "Rockers on Broadway" at BB Kings in Times Square NYC. He also recently performed on Piano during half time show of the Knicks opening game at Madison Square Garden.

This is a benefit for the Stewards of the Lower Susquehanna. David Nevue, a solo pianist from Oregon who created "Whisperings" solopianoradio.com (solo piano music 24/7) will be performing, as well as 3 other "Whisperings" artists: Louis Landon, Jace Vek, and Greg Maroney. All this will take place in the beautiful Pullo Family Performing Arts Center that features a 2005 Steinway D (9 foot concert grand). This should be a fantastic concert and it's all for a great cause.

Mothers' Day was originated with a proclamation by Julia Ward Howe, made just after the terrible carnage of the American Civil War. It was a plea and a charge to all mothers, to prevent their sons from joining up to fight wars in the future.
--- Every year in new Paltz, Arts for Peace distributes leaflets with the text of Howe's proclamation, and plants donated by a local florist -- small growing things that remind us of life. Voices for Peace joins them to provide appropriate songs. This outdoor event happens rain or shine.
