For twenty years, Dan Navarro has written, recorded and toured as part of the folk rock duo of Lowen and Navarro. Their ten CDs showcase self-penned songs of experience, colored by supple acoustic-based arrangements centered around their intertwined voices. A few years ago Eric Lowen was diagnosed with ALS and had to cut his touring schedule to an occasional outing, but Dan is determined to keep their music alive. With considerable courage, he is setting out on the road, for the first time in many years, as a solo performer. Individually, Dan has flourished in other parts of the entertainment industry since 1988. He has had great success as a session singer and voice actor in English and Spanish.
The theme for this jam will be Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. Should be, er, fun, you know, in an illegal, depressing, rowdy sort of way! I'm looking forward to being in the room with this collection of musicians!
Joe "ELVIS" Borelli wil be bringing back memories of one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived tonight at The Hudson Valley Mall for this years Lions Expo. Starting at 6pm on the main stage in the food court area of the mall. If you love Elvis you won't want to miss this tribute to the King.
Accompanying Joe will be Doreen from Star Tracks Entertainment also bringing back a few of you favorites sung by the ladies of counrty such as Pasty Cline and Loretta Lynn. It's a little bit counrty and a little bit rock and roll at the main stage tonight. Don't miss the action!
Luminescent Orchestrii is: Romanian gypsy melodies, punk frenzy, salty tangos, hard-rocking klezmer, haunting Balkan harmony, hip-hop beats and Appalachian fiddle, all eaten and spit out by two violins, resophonic guitar, bullhorn harmonica and bass. The members of the Orchestrii come from different scenes in New York City, yet come together through their love of Balkan and Gypsy music. Sxip Shirey is an international circus composer, Sarah Alden is an old-time fiddle player, Rima Fand is an experimental theater composer, and Benjy Fox-Rosen is a free-jazz bassist. Since 2002, when the band was formed, the Luminescent Orchestrii has toured the East Coast, England, Scotland, and Germany, and have traveled to Romania, Macedonia, Turkey and Serbia for inspiration. $15 for individuals, and $10 for seniors and youth aged 12-18. Kids under 12 are free.
It's theme night at the Jam again. This time, all the songs will be about alcohol, tobacco and/or firearms. Nothing illegal, mind you, just some good ol' American vices. COme out and indulge yours -- Of course, there's no drinking, smoking or guns allowed, just MUSIC!!
