The RoostBodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
The Roost is a heart & soul Rock and Roll band whose influences are not of these times. The music is no frills and straight ahead with plenty of melody for good measure.

The band counts much of the English blues and rock bands and singers of the seventies as influences, along with the great American soul music burgeoning in the sixties.

The Roost plays for the love of it with no excuses. The idea for the band was born out of a group of friends meeting every now and again and playing what ever came to mind. It was obvious they were all thinking the same thing. Three of those friends started writing together, recording together and before they knew it, The Roost came to be!

Billy's Slurp & Burp

Highland, NY   See Map
Billy's has been an Highland.institution for over 25 years. . We've been playing 'Da Burp' as a twice-annual event for over four years now and every show here has been a qualified Nuts-bonanza. So what makes this show so special? 1) The owner- Billy Jr., one of the best bar owner's in the Hudson Valley. This guy knows how to make an event and really throw a party. #2) The atmosphere- for it's relatively small size, Billy's has a vibe that rivals any of the bigger bars we play at. #3) The people- People we only see at Billy's... and Billy has some of the coolest bar patrons around. Well... Billy sold the bar and is moving to Vegas, so this is the last time to experince Nuts in Highland! For those who haven't experienced the delights the "Slurp' has to offer, then come join us for the last time this Saturday at 10PM

OD's Presents Great Roots Rock from NYC!
with The Shade
Rock (classic), Country
O'Donoghue's of Nyack
66 Main St.
Nyack, NY   See Map
What do you get when you mix the sounds of 38 Special, The Allmans, and NRBQ with a dash of Stevie Ray, and toss in a pinch of The Band? You come up with a spicy concotion of Roots Rock called THE SHADE.

It‘s music that smells of big sky country, barbecues, and the smoke from a ratty ‘49 Ford yanked through the woods by a moonshiner with an eagle feather in his hat... presented by an enthusiastic bunch of New York City folk steeped in the traditions of Southern-style Rock ’n’ Roll.

Like the best Roots bar bands, these guys perform a mix of cover tunes and many of their own great songs written in the idiom (You can hear their music on their MySpace page by clicking on their name above). They don’t get up North to Nyack often, so it’s worthwhile planning to stop by OD’s for “ A Shot O’Shade”!

We are grateful to HVM for allowing us to announce this evening of Roots Rock with The Shade. As always, there's no cover charge.

Even if you live across the country you can help support Music for Humanity with something that may not cost you a dime. Consider donating to the Silent Auction to be held 5 to 9 pm. Donate some of your time or a product/service. The possibilities are literally endless. Linda Borghi is co-ordinating the silent auction. You can contact her at 845-692-3550 or email her at lborghi@abundantlifefarm.com.
The fund raiser and concert last year was a wonderful event with some great music. It will be a great event again.
You can also make an online contribution at http://www.musicforhumanity.org/donations.html
All donations will go to our current mission: to provide music scholarships to teenagers who want to continue their music education but need financial assistance. Music for Humanity became a 501c-3 Charity this year and all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. MFH is 100% volunteer effort - no salaries so virtually all of the donated funds will go to further our mission.
