Beppe Gambetta,
JeffreyBluegrass, Roots Music. Italian flatpicking guitarist!Italian guitarist Beppe Gambetta is coming to Poughkeepsie, a city with a rich culture of Italian immigrants. Beppe’s bluegrass roots date back nearly 50 years.
He founded an Italian bluegrass band in 1977 and wrote the first Italian book on flatpicking. His guitar stylings blend Doc Watson's flatpicking with and Moravian folk music melding flashy licks, intricate cross-picking patterns, open tunings, and fluid slides up and down the neck.
Beppe traveled throughout the US since the late 70s when he performed at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, and later MerleFest in North Carolina, the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.
He has performed with many of the great American pickers: David Grisman, Gene Parsons, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Dan Crary, and others.
Beppe’s latest album is Terra Madre, released in April 2024, features a collection of bilingual, acoustic, and heartfelt songs that blend American roots music with Italian and Genovese influences.
