Prior to a career in music, Joe Peters was an academic in natural resources management, teaching & conducting research in South America, Africa & Asia. Upon retirement, he began writing & playing his songs at open mics, restaurants, coffee shops, theaters, fundraisers & other venues in his native Indiana.
Joe grew up in the American Midwest during the turbulent times of the 1960s & 70s, & his songs hearken back to a time when the youth of the planet sought the experience of peace, love & adventure & expressed this search in their music. Through his music, he has tried to rekindle in others that spark of the seeker of truth on a spiritual journey that was awakened in him long ago by the songs of introspective songwriters & recording artists.

After hundreds of shows, Peters moved to California in 2016 where he continues to perform in the Bay Area, now with his band Slow Train. Peters has released 20 albums of original songs, mostly folk, rock & Americana genres.
