Puppets of Castro feat. Andrew LorandSinger-Songwriter, Comedic, and Contemporary
Andrew Lorand's songs have been described as "intelligent, witty songs, some serious, some hilarious, and some a touch of both" (-Oregon Public Radio). His band, 'Puppets of Castro' has released four albums, with contributing vocals from such singer/songwriter stalwarts as Darryl Purpose, Matthew Mars, and Steve Sills. Lorand grew up in suburban Los Angeles reading Lenny Bruce and listening to Tom Lehrer, resulting in a somewhat skewed musical perspective. An eclectic satirist and keen observer of the humor and pathos found around the darker edges of the human condition, Lorand takes his listeners on a frequently humorous, and often contemplative ride. Dan Bern (Walk Hard-The Dewey Cox Story) describes Lorand's music as "catchy philosophical pop that ranges from radio friendly rockers to tunes that could be a Murakami short story set to music.” The band has maintained a loyal following and a presence in college radio for years.
