Many different and varied influences come to play in Fran Palmieri's songwriting, and the band continues to impress with the tight harmonies and soaring guitar solos that Trio Mio's audience has come to expect in their live shows. Their latest collection is a 23-song album featuring some of Palmieri's finest work, with story lines covering everything from contemporary politics (DC People), to the age-old struggles of the oppressed classes (God Bless the Working Man, Rise Up), from Voltaire (Turn Out Delight is a modern take on Candide) to Groucho Marx (Seasons). There are light-hearted moments (Please Don't Leave Me, The Last Time), and dark story-songs (Come Away, Another Lonely Boy in Paradise), but the band navigates these widely diverse themes with grace and grit.
"Rise Up / Stand Up" is an exceptional collection of world-class songwriting supported by outstanding musicianship that recalls Buffalo Springfield, Fleetwood Mac, and The Association, as well as contemporary artists like Dawes and The Lumineers. They have been described by fans as Santana meets the Everly Brothers, with all that is conjured in the imagination by those diverse combinations.
The band's first album, "Love... and Other Storms" is still a fan favorite and live shows are peppered with selections like "Macbeth in Hell", "Better Days", and "Amarte".
Trio Mio consists of Fran Plamieri (rhythm guitar, vocals), Terri Massardo (vocals, percussion), Bruce Hildenbrand (lead guitar, mandolin, vocals), Steve Massardo (bass, vocals), and Bruce Hutchins (drums).
