Spook Handy will be featured and open mic performances will be available to all. Cost of admission for this event is $6 ($5 for Folk Guild members and seniors). Open mic sign-up at 7 p.m. Spook Handy shares the pearls of everyday life and extraordinary experiences through songs that sing of our humanity, culture, history, landscape and values. His songs tell the story of contemporary America through the people he’s met, places he’s been and predicaments he’s found himself in – both in his own backyard and in his travels. His easygoing manner invites people to step out of their own boxes, open their hearts, engage their imaginations, and get involved. With a simple Martin D-35 guitar, banjo, harmonica, his own voice and the voices of the audience, Spook presents good honest acoustic songs that are true to the spirit, passion and purpose of American folk music. He has toured throughout North America and has five full length CDs to his credit.

Walkabout Clearwater Chorus and Coffeehouse
with Garnet Rogers
Folk/Traditional
Memorial United Methodist Church
250 Bryant Avenue
White Plains, NY   See Map
Hailed by the Boston Globe as a "charismatic performer and singer", Garnet is a man with a powerful physical presence - close to six and a half feet tall - with a voice to match.

With his "smooth, dark baritone, his incredible range, and thoughtful, dramatic phrasing, Garnet is widely considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the finest singers anywhere" (Washington Post). His music, like the man himself, is literate, passionate, highly sensitive, and deeply purposeful. Cinematic in detail, "his songs give expression to the unspoken vocabulary of the heart" (Kitchener Waterloo Record).

An optimist at heart, Garnet sings extraordinary songs about people who are not obvious heroes and of the small victories of the everyday. As memorable as his songs, his over-the-top humor and lightning-quick wit moves his audience from tears to laughter and back again.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Robbie Dupree began his music career singing on the street corners of Brooklyn. His passion for music flourished in the rich, creative atmosphere of the late 1960s. Moving to New York City during these exciting days, Robbie dedicated himself to songwriting and the pursuit of a solo career. He studied the work of R&B legends such as Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke. Their powerful rhythms and sensual melodies became the foundation of Robbie’s emerging style, which would take him through several ensembles in the city and eventually to Woodstock, where he garnered national acclaim with his songs"Steal Away", "Hot Rod Hearts", "Brooklyn Girls", and "When You're Down."

Robbie released his debut album in 1978, earning two Top Ten singles and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and has continued to record and perform through "Anthology Live 1998-2014" in 2015. Dupree anticipates a new album release in 2018.

"Sexmob celebrates 20 years by deleting the space between the two words of its name and releasing Cultural Capital, the band’s first album of all-original material by leader Steven Bernstein." - Relix

"Sexmob's new CD, 'Cultural Capital' comes in a plain, brown cardboard sleeve....Bernstein writes the catchy tunes....peppered with dance beats from tango to Jamaican dub to Jewish wedding. They....have a gleefully rude side." - NPR

Bernstein’s on-stage antics and the band’s amazing musicianship are the focal points. They never rehearse. They never have a set list. Things are constantly fresh.

Consistently praised for her originality, poingnant lyrics and impeccable musicianship, KJ is a one of a kind songwriter, guitarist and performer. KJ's special blend of "Urban Folk & Jazz" has earned her 2 wins and 4 nominations at the Independent Music Awards. Songs like "Beautiful", "Choose Your Weapon", "Sorry" and "Destiny" are favorites of fans and critics alike. KJ's renditions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Help" bring a new sense of purpose (and hope) to old favorites.

KJ has appeared at scores of festivals, including the prestigious Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy. She's performed in Egypt and has an annual residency at the Baz Bar in St. Barth's. KJ performs monthly at the 55 Bar in NYC, and we're honored KJ calls 12 Grapes home the 2nd Thursday of every month.

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the tow set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Chris Pureka with The Harmaleighs, Haley Grant, Kaylee JaspersonThe Falcon
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Portland-based singer-songwriter Chris Pureka's body of work has resonated deeply with seemingly disparate milieus. Her bold vulnerability in processing the intimacies of her life in song has long appealed to listeners who crave authenticity.

She’s shared the stage with artists such as Dar Williams, The Lumineers, The Cowboy Junkies, Gregory Alan Isakov, Martin Sexton, and Ani DiFranco.

The Harmaleighs (pronunciation: the har-muh- lees) honestly craft poetic, passionate, and powerful songs cut from a pastiche of indie, folk, pop and Americana. In 2015, the band - Haley Grant [lead vocals, guitar] and Kaylee Jasperson [bass, harmonies]—embarked on a modern odyssey in support of their independent full-length debut, "Pretty Picture, Dirty Brush".

The band-mates and partners hit the road with their 8-month-old pug Gus sleeping on the dashboard for the next nine months. The trials, tribulations, and triumphs of this trek would ultimately inspire their upcoming EP, "Hiraeth".
