Barnaby Bye, Jason Spooner TrioBodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
From standing room only shows in NYC and Long Island and a successful European tour, Barnaby Bye returns to Bodles Opera House for the second time to support the release of their new CD "Thrice Upon a Time". Comprised of four successful musician, singer, songwriters whose credits range from the likes of Quincy Jones, Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Cher, Michael Bolton, Diana Ross, Kiss, Alice cooper, Frankie Valli, Christopher Cross, Barbara Streisand, Peter Frampton, Sting, The Four Tops and Art Garfunkle etc. Barnaby Bye is comprised of recording artists, Billy and Bobby Alessi with hit records around the globe and are grammy nominated for the musical score of Ghostbusters, www.alessibros.com
Peppy Castro, www.peppycastro.com scored his first hit record at the age of 17, as one of the founding fathers of the legendary Blues Magoos. Pounding out the grooves on drums is Mike Ricciardella ,www.mikericciardella.com who also scored his first hit record as a teen for the infamous band “The Illusion”. Barnaby Bye was created when the boys met while performing in the original Broadway production of “HAIR”. They were signed to Atlantic records from just one live performance. After two albums on Atlantic they all went on to enjoy amazing careers writing and singing some of the most well known jingles that America has been listening to for decades. After many years of a close friendship and for the love of the music they created as Barnaby Bye www.barnabybye.com
Billy, Bobby, Peppy and Mike are back together with sheer excitement playing together again.

Opening the Show: Jason Spoooner Trio. The ingredients behind northern New England’s Jason Spooner Trio www.jasonspooner.com read like a bizarre musical science experiment. Start with a prolific, singer/songwriter (Jason Spooner) with heavy roots, folk & blues influences. Then mix in a classicly-trained bassist (Adam Frederick) with foundations in jazz and a knack for serious pocket grooves. Lastly, shake things up with a rock-solid drummer (Reed Chambers) with deep-seeded roots in funk, soul & reggae and you’ve begun to scratch the surface of this unique, energetic band.

Doors open at 6:30 pm
Tickets: $25.00 Advance / $27.50 Day of Show Order online or

THE SPIRIT OF WOODY GUTHRIE
with HOPE MACHINE
Folk/Traditional
Dockside Pub
825 South Lake Boulevard
Mahopac, NY   See Map
Hope Machine is more a traveling hootenanny than a band. Steve Kirkman and Fred Gillen Jr. first worked together when Anna Canoni, Woody Guthrie's granddaughter, sought musicians to perform Woody's songs at a hootenanny celebrating Woody's birthday. These days Fred and Steve sing their own songs, Woody's songs, and any other songs which fit the spirit of the Hope Machine experience. The Hope Machine experience is a constantly evolving celebration of the human spirit, and acknowledgement of the wisdom of our elders, and above all an opportunity for both musicians and audience to be connected in community, and sing together. There is no cover for tonights performance. Your generosity for the performers is always appreciated. Dockside is located just 3.8 miles off the Bryant Pond Road exit of the Taconic parkway.

Late Night With:
with Two Gun Man, Naked (acoustic set), Dave Houghton (of Fancy Trash)
Roots Music, Country, and Acoustic. Americana, Indie
The Colony
22 Rock City Rd.
Woodstock, NY   See Map
$5 22 Rock City Rd. Woodstock NY (845) 679-5342 Two Gun Man reformed in September 2006 when Julian Seidenberg (drums, percussion, vocals), Reid Waring (lead singer, chief writer, rhythm guitar) and Josh Watson (lead guitar) moved from Washington State to New York's Hudson Valley. There they rejoined Josh Miesmer (bass, vocals), who quickly resumed his role as the hilarious nucleus of the band, following stints with Johnny Society, Mr. Forky and Joseph Arthur. For Seidenberg and Waring this was a homecoming reunion, having performed with Meismer as a three-piece group years before. But for Watson, a native of the same town which launched Nirvana, Mudhoney and the Melvins, this was a leap into the unknown. In its previous incarnation, Two Gun Man had been solid: loads of fun and brimming with potential. But only as a four piece has that potential finally been realized: roots rock & roll and Americana at its best, indefinably but unmistakably brilliant.

OD's Presents the Best Jump Blues Band Anywhere!
with The Slippery Chickens
Blues
O'Donoghue's of Nyack
66 Main St.
Nyack, NY   See Map
They’re our only blues band... ‘cause they‘re so atypical of the genre! OD’s has tried hiring Chicago style bands, with “She done me wrong” lyrics and crying guitars, and, although we like that kind of music as well, there’s just something about the Chickens’ upbeat, stride sound that makes all the others fall away.

The booming voice and upright slap bass of front man Jerry Scaringe, and the slightly nutty, sliding tempo guitar of Mike Olivieri are reasons the Chickens’ jump style is so appealing. Add the rambunctious, bang-bang drumwork of Richie Narigian, and you have the hippest, happiest blues music this side of a New Orleans wedding!

OD's thanks HVM for listing this Slippery Chickens appearance. As always, there's no cover charge!

Simple, honest lyrics delivered with a dusty-road tenor voice, his performances are soulful and thought provoking without being artificial or pretentious. Folk/Traditional, Acoustic
Outdoors in front of Elting Memorial Library
Main Street
New Paltz, NY   See Map
Mothers' Day was originated with a proclamation by Julia Ward Howe, made just after the terrible carnage of the American Civil War. It was a plea and a charge to all mothers, to prevent their sons from joining up to fight wars in the future. --- Every year in new Paltz, Arts for Peace distributes leaflets with the text of Howe's proclamation, and plants donated by a local florist -- small growing things that remind us of life. Voices for Peace joins them to provide appropriate songs. This outdoor event happens rain or shine.
