"CAROL BEAUGARD & BLUE EXPRESS" ... is a Band performing Bluegrass, Bluegrass, and Americana music.
"BLUE EXPRESS” performs a fabulous blend of driving bluegrass with an edge, as well as rich folkgrass filled with emotional ballads and instrumentals. Exceptional originals and covers with a contemporary sound, humor and a great sense of fun are our special ingredients.
Lead vocalist, Carol Beaugard, is best known for her work as a radio DJ, host of ‘Lonesome Pine RFD’ heard on 89.1, WFDU-FM (NYC) and worldwide on WAMU’s ‘Bluegrass Country’. Stage credits include appearances at numerous festivals throughout the northeast fronting her former bluegrass/country band, “Grover’s Mill”, and touring the tri-state as a professional dancer with The Fiddlestyx Cloggers.
Wayne Fugate is a master mandolin player, who’s studied and played with Barry Mitterhoff and Mike Marshall. Other credits include stage work with Tony Trischka, Hazel Dickens, Walt Michael & Co, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Kenny Kosek, Grammy winner Lisa Gutkin and the band ‘Out to Lunch’. Wayne teaches mandolin and is the author of two instructional books.
Kevin Ege is a versatile guitarist who’s played bluegrass, jazz, swing, folk and classical music with “The Crackleberries”, “Easy on the Tuba”, “The Pep Boys” and the “Evening Edition Band”. He’s opened for Lester Flatt and James Cotton and has performed on stages including The Eagle Tavern, the Jones Beach Bandshell and the South Street Seaport in NYC.
Banjo phenomenon, Steve Wilson, is a veteran of the Nashville circuit where he toured and recorded with the Mikey J. Boles Band (of Dave Peterson and 1946) and Grand Ole’ Opry fiddler, Grahm Williamson. Known for his ‘Sammy Shelor’ driving five-string style, he recently launched a line of his own custom-designed “Angeltone” Wilson banjos, available for special order.
Bassist Barry Wiesenfeld has toured on three continents and has performed and recorded with Grammy and RMI winning artists at renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall, The Garden State Arts Center, NYC Parks Concert Series and more. Barry plays electric and upright basses and sings, and is equally at home in classical, folk, rock, Celtic, Broadway and bluegrass genres
For weddings and special events, the band offers classical works, Celtic pieces, pop, swing or acoustic stringed music performed instrumentally or with vocals. We can also include side personnel such as hammered dulcimer, fiddle, dobro, bodhran, piano, flute or penny whistles.
