Lisa Dudley
Acoustic
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Lisa Dudley has a passionate following of soldiers and veterans. Perhaps a signature song that best identifies who she is would be "Angel On My Shoulder" which is her most requested song. Her loyal following of fans love to hear her sing the songs that celebrate life, love and loss including an inspirational collection of "soft gospel". Songs like "Praise God for The Rain", "Use Me In A Mighty Way", and "I Will Rise Up Singing" have become standards in churches where she plays. With songs like "Twenty-One Guns","Broken Purple Heart", and "You Do The Job Right", the men in her audience - from soldiers to senators - get a feeling of empathy and appreciation seldom enjoyed in their own lives. The women in the audience also appreciate songs like "She Bought Your Love","Gotta Cut You Loose", and "Dangerous Curves" - a boot-stomping song about the power of a woman's body - which gives them the feeling that someone understands what's important to them too.

Solo Piano for Peace CD release concert #2

Acoustic, New Age, and Jazz. Peace Music
Somers Library
Route 139
Somers, NY   See Map
Instrumental music is so powerful its interpretation is left to individual discretion as no two people hear music in exactly the same way. That composers intend their music to speak for itself is no accident, as excellence is a matter of intention. The most definitive bodies of instrumental music incorporate various influences that have evolved through the ages and resonate with sophisticated audiences in such a manner a wide variety of listeners embrace the emotional intent collectively.

Solo pianist & composer, Louis Landon from Chestnut Ridge, New York, has dedicated his life to music. His career has taken him around the world playing a variety of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry. Yet, not long ago, Landon realized that his own music - the solo compositions that bring him so much joy and peace could surely bring joy and particularly peace to millions around the world who struggle to cope as unwitting witnesses to unnecessary destruction.

Gypsy Celtic Cabaret Folk Rock

66 Partition St
Saugerties, NY   See Map
New Paltz's The Gypsy Nomads’ music is a hybridized version of the gypsy sound laced with a cabaret, celtic and neo-medieval flavor rooted in punk, folk and the vineyards of southern France. The duo features French-born British chanteuse Samantha Stephenson on vocals, percussion and drums and songwriter and veteran of the punk scene Scott Helland on guitar, drums, and loops. Together Samantha and Scott create a compelling onstage chemistry and their show is a lively and animated tribute to the free spirit lifestyle. A show of contrasts, it ranges from sultry and cheeky French/English songs to gypsy celtic inspired instrumentals to pounding drums reminiscent of Taiko and march-style choreography. Samantha’s Siouxsie-esque vocals perfectly complement Helland’s guitar lines, which he often layers with live looping. You won’t find somberness here, the show is all about feeling good and their flair for the theatrical makes them almost hypnotic to watch.

Claire Lynch, Breakneck Annie
Americana
Bodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
By any measure, the Claire Lynch Band is high on the bluegrass world's A-List, with musicians whose accolades include International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Female Vocalist of the Year and two Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album (Claire); two IBMA Guitar Player of the Year awards (Jim Hurst); and two IBMA Bass Player of the Year awards (Mark Schatz).

Claire's musical direction dates back to the days of the Front Porch String Band, resulting in a seasoned sound that is simultaneously unpretentious and richly textured. It's a down-home, front porch sensibility - until you realize that it's a rare front porch, indeed, that has ever hosted musicians of this caliber. Jim Hurst throws out impossible leads effortlessly, and the band is grounded by bassist Mark Schatz's deft touch and masterful instinct for groove. Toronto native Jason Thomas brings monster chops on fiddle and mandolin, supported by remarkable musical versatility and imagination that have made him instantly at home in one of the greatest bluegrass bands currently on the scene.

Dolly Parton credits Claire with "one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today." Claire's harmonies have graced the recordings of many stellar musicians, from Ralph Stanley to Linda Ronstadt. Equally gifted as a songwriter, her songs have been recorded by The Seldom Scene, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Cherryholmes, The Whites and others.

Opening the show: Breakneck Annie - Performing Americana, Folk/Traditional music. Good Time Music - not quite bluegrass, not quite old time, not quite folk. Rarely serious and always fun.
