While splitting time as a funeral director in Nova Scotia and harmony singer in a country band, Terra Spencer stumbled onto a deep passion for songwriting. Catching the attention of Canadian folk heroes like David Francey and Dave Gunning, Terra’s songs are a scrapbook of her own experiences and fine-point illustrations of other people’s lives, rendered with heart and humour. Since her 2018 solo debut, she has won over audiences in the Maritimes and abroad, marrying fingerstyle guitar, gospel piano, and her butterscotch voice with onstage ease. Recently named Music Nova Scotia Folk Recording of the Year, Terra’s second album Chasing Rabbits is a collection of winter songs about long-distance love, wildlife encounters, and places that feel like home. In a room of 5 or 500, every show is a knee-to-knee conversation with a natural storyteller, nominated for the Canadian Folk Music Award Contemporary Singer of the Year.
