"Soaring vocals, churning guitas, assaultive keyboards,
relentlessly brutal drumming from Hudson Valley One-Man-Band
John Schrader... The arrangements are genuinely inventive
and the groove is undeniable... Schrader breathes new life
into the local music scene."
John has a degree in music, a second degree in Television/Video/Audio Production, and has been writing music now for about ten years. He started out playing the drums and then, in high school, began teaching himself piano and guitar. Upon entering college for music, his education broadened to include a wide range of instruments. Shortly after his second year in college, he began writing songs and having them recorded at Salem Studios in Port Ewen, by Edward Flick (Big Smoothies) whom he credits for furthering his music knowledge-- "Eddie really gave me my education in the studio and with songwriting!"
In 1992 and 1996, he was a semi-finalist in 1992 and 1996 in Billboard and Musician Magazine's songwriting competition. He's also scored the soundtracks for several indie film and video projects and recently completed a commerical for which he was the director of photography and scored the music. The commercial ran on CBS and CNBC and won an international award. He's been involved in all aspects of production for video and audio-- production, post production, etc.
