Perception Album Release

Jazz

674 Broadway
Kingston, NY   See Map
“Indie-voiced Kristina Koller mixes jazz and bohemia…Gotta see her!” - JazzWeekly

Vocalist, composer and arranger Kristina Koller will present music from her debut album ‘Perception’. As one of the most applauded rising stars in jazz, Koller has developed quickly into a highly individual vocalist, melding jazz, funk, R&B and alt-rock sounds into her songs. Kristina arranges tunes in unique ways, knowing that adding to the legacy of jazz is much more important than recreating the performances of others. The New York native culled her musical chops in the NYC jazz scene, performing at venerable jazz haunts such as Smalls, Smoke, Minton’s, Mezzrow as well as The Apollo Theater. Kristina was a featured Discovery Artist at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival and her quintet were semi-finalists in the 2017 DCJazzPrix competition.

Koller is a very original contemporary jazz vocalist, one that anyone interested in jazz, or for that matter progressive music, needs to hear.

KJ was on tour - from Cleveland to Alaska and back home. And we're excited to welcome her to our stage again.

Consistently praised for her originality, poingnant lyrics and impeccable musicianship, KJ is a one of a kind songwriter, guitarist and performer. KJ's special blend of "Urban Folk & Jazz" has earned her 2 wins and 4 nominations at the Independent Music Awards. Songs like "Beautiful", "Choose Your Weapon", "Sorry" and "Destiny" are favorites of fans and critics alike. KJ's renditions of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Help" bring a new sense of purpose (and hope) to old favorites.

Alpha Male GorillasThe Falcon

Marlboro, NY   See Map
AMG traverses the worlds of rock, blues, hip hop and reggae, with elements of psychedelic. The band coined the term "HeaVy Mellow" in 2010 while recording their second album, "No Working Title".

The band is making a lasting impact in the Hudson Valley, playing a steady circuit of bars, clubs, and festivals throughout the region, beloved by those who regularly show the Gorillas love and respect, and don't mind the noise. AMG's heart, soul, brain, and braun, have amassed a legion of fans, great friends and family, happy to rock to exhaustion until the Alphas break it down.

With six officially-active members, and a small army of like-minded comrades waiting in the wings, AMG has consistently headlined the biggest small festival in Upstate New York - MAZZSTOCK since 2008 - founded by Big Lee Mazzola, the mandatory annual all night jam session has grown and matured, but thankfully not too much.

As one reviewer wrote, "These guys truly hit the nail on the head better than most other pro touring blues/roots bands... I think a lot has to do with the energy, soul and ability for the band to mix it up -- Chicago Blues, Rockabilly, good old R&B plus Cajun flavored off beat stuff - I love it all."

Blasphemy! "The Ed Palermo Big Band is more popular than The Beatles." Band leader, Ed Palermo, refuses to apologize for something so blatantly obvious.

"...one of the greatest musicians and arrangers in the world." -- Christian McBride

"I can’t remember the last time that a concert left me so breathless. The entire evening was a stunning balance of musical precision, passion and power." Greg Haymes/Nippertown

Crazy times call for outrageous music, and few jazz ensembles are better prepared to meet the surreality of this reality-TV-era than the antic and epically creative Ed Palermo Big Band.

Nothing demonstrates the ensemble’s ongoing vitality better than the stellar cast of players, with many longtime collaborators. Many of these top-shelf musicians have been in the band for more than a decade, and they bring wide ranging experience, expert musicianship and emotional intensity to Palermo’s music.

"Get Your Wings" captures Aerosmith in their '70s-style heyday, when they were known as "America's answer to the Rolling Stones."

Their live show is absolutely explosive, uncannily capturing the raw, ragged, swaggerin', scarf wearin', down-and-dirty REAL Rock 'n Roll classic Aerosmith.

Get Your Wings also recreates the sounds of Tyler and Perry's biggest hits from the past three decades, too. If you've got an Aerosmith jones, this is the band to see! "Get Your Wings is the one and only Aero tribute band to experience." -More Sugar Magazine

Sunday Evening Jazz
with David Liebman's Expansions, Bobby Avey, Matt Vashlishan, Alex Ritz, Tony Marino
The Falcon
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Expansions presents a suite based on the theme of the Earth as it is manifested in our lives-Volcano-Avalanche-Mount Everest-Concrete Jungle.... a voyage into the elements of color and ambiance.

The Dave Liebman Group will feature music written and played by John Coltrane - celebrating the 90th year of his birth and 50th since his passing - covering the three periods of his short, yet extraordinary, career beginning with his tenure as a sideman in the Miles Davis Group; through the repertoire of the Classic Quartet (Tyner, Jones and Garrison); concluding with pieces from the late “free” jazz period.

Coltrane's body of work represents a pinnacle of achievement in the 20th century exerting an influence that goes beyond jazz both spiritually and musically. For Liebman, seeing Coltrane live on many occasions in NYC inspired him to pursue this music.

If you like a great folk song I bet you'll love the new record from Chuck Williams called "Stories I've Told." Songs on the record include collaborations with the late great Michael Troy and the highly respected songwriter and guitarist Brooks Williams. It's an album with a strong folk ethic and messages that are conveyed in an artful way with refined craft.

Williams has been involved in many projects since the release of“Lightning in a Bottle” in 2010. His involvement in guiding the Rhode Island Songwriters Association, the release of the single “I Want My Country Back”in 2012, the establishment of the Michael Troy Memorial Music Foundation in 2016. All along the way the writers cap was on and Chuck has crafted 10 original songs and arranged a cover of the worlds saddest song, 'Seeds and Stems Again Blues' written by Commander Cody (George Frayne) and Billy C. Farley.

The album debuted on the Folk DJ Top Albums Chart in January!

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Amy Helm presents her 2nd Annual Woodshed Residency Tour, Mondays at The Falcon. The tour includes Tuesdays at Rockwood II in NYC, and Wednesdays at The Parlor Room in Northampton, MA.

"I'm just trying to tell some stories as honestly as I can," Amy Helm says of Didn't It Rain, her first solo album and her eOne Music debut.

Amy Helm has been making music for most of her life, and won widespread praise as a singer, songwriter and live performer, first as a member of the celebrated alt-country collective Ollabelle and subsequently for her extensive work with her father, musical icon Levon Helm, who passed away in 2012.

Amy's solo album, Didn't It Rain also marked the final recording sessions of Levon Helm, who acted as the project's executive producer as well as adding his unmistakable drumming on three tracks; Levon's distinctive count-off can be heard kicking off Amy's rousing take on Martha Scanlan's "Spend Our Last Dime."
