Peekskill, NY   See Map
Great coffee & snacks, great music, great room with relaxed 'vibe', you & good friends ... C'mon Out and join us for a wonderful evening!

“Uncommon Ground”, is an alternative bluegrass group on a mission to flex the boundaries of traditional music. Combining razor-sharp vocals, fiery instrumentals and an ever growing repertoire of well-crafted tunes, “Uncommon Ground” is schooled in tradition yet able to stretch out in inspired improvisation. In short, “Uncommon Ground” is as fresh an addition to the music scene as has come along in many a year.

“Uncommon Ground” draws on the talents of Michael Kobetitsch, Sara Della Posta and Wayne Fugate, all long-time veterans of the Bluegrass scene who have performed with a host of musical luminaries, along with Rachel Handman and Phil Helm, two principles in the Hudson Valley Philharmonic whose technical precision, fertile inventiveness, surprising touches and mastery of the Bluegrass genre, give the band a distinctive, signature voice.

The Lighthouse Coffee Company

Sleepy Hollow, NY   See Map
Hot coffee, tea, food, and great tunes! (No cover charge.) Great Blue plays their homemade music at the Lighthouse Coffee Company, upstairs in the new performance space. March 1, from 8pm to 10pm, at 222 Beekman Ave. Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 (www.thelighthousecoffeeco.com).

Shirl and Steve have been singing together for more than 30 years. Their music reflects their deep respect for those who work with their hands, those who teach, and those who struggle to make this world fit for our children. Their music, is greatly influenced by Kate Wolf and by Pete Seeger’s Hudson River approach to music.

Their choice of material offers a fresh variety and a varied tempo. Listeners have been transfixed by a hauntingly beautiful Kate Wolf ballad, then amused by the audacity of Bryan Bowers’ “Bad Boy” or Rory Block’s “God’s Gift to Women”. Many concert-goers have said that they were pleasantly surprised that the songs were so carefully chosen, and the lyrics so compelling and meaningful.
