Shirl and Steve have been singing together for more than 30 years. Their music reflects their deep respect for those who work with their hands, those who teach, and those who struggle to make this world fit for our children.

Their choice of material offers a fresh variety and a varied tempo. Listeners have been transfixed by a hauntingly beautiful Kate Wolf ballad, then amused by the audacity of Bryan Bowers’ “Bad Boy” or Rory Block’s “God’s Gift to Women”. Many concert-goers have said that they were pleasantly surprised that the songs were so carefully chosen, and the lyrics so compelling and meaningful.

It is a rare thing when one family produces four musically talented siblings whose skills and versatility are at a level capable of taking the international music scene by storm. Giveway is a band with that capability. Formed in 1998 the group comprises four sisters – Fiona Johnson, an accomplished fiddle player, vocalist, guitarist, pianist and whistle player; Kirsty Johnson, a skilled pianist, accordion player andsinger; Amy Johnson, a talented drummer and accordion player; and Mairi Johnson, an accomplished pianoand keyboard player, vocalist and bass player.
